Weekly Updates

The members of the Glouster Clock Project meet every week to work on the many components of the project.

On April 10, the students in the Trimble High School Tenth Grade English Class Leadership Program and several of the mentors involved in the project were able to hold a productive meeting despite an abbreviated schedule due to an early dismissal. The students reflected on the field trips from the previous week. The students also submitted poetry, pictures, quotes and short paragraphs about how they have been impacted by the Glouster Clock Project. The students' works will be included in a book that will be published before the celebration of the restoration of the clock on May 25. The mentors also provided more detailed information about an upcoming event in which Diane Fisher, a published author, will lead a poetry workshop with the students involved with the Glouster Clock Project and any other Trimble High School Students. The event will be held on Tuesday, April 23 at Burr Oak Lodge.

To learn more about Diane Fisher, the author that will be leading the Poetry Workshop, and her various works you can find more information here: Diane Fisher, The Poetry Center at Smith College Website

On April 3, the students in the Trimble High School Tenth Grade English Class Leadership Program went on several different field trips to aid in their research and planning for the Glouster Clock Project and the upcoming celebration of the restoration of the clock. The field trips were led by the students' mentors and teachers. Depending on the specific committee the students were involved with for the project, the students went to one of three locations for the field trips. The students either went to the Athens County Historical Society and Museum, Bob Little's business to view the clock, or the Glouster Depot. Depending on the location of their field trip, the students engaged in different activities ranging anywhere from viewing the restored clock to sorting through historical archives and documents about the town of Glouster and its 107 year old clock.

Below you will see some pictures taken during the various field trips.
